Een Russische Proton M-raket heeft vannacht de Kazachstaanse telecomsatelliet KazSat-3 naar de ruimte gebracht. Dat meldt het Russische ruimteagentschap Roscosmos.
De satellieten bereikten hun aardbaan om 02.17 Nederlandse tijd. De raket vertrok van de lanceerbasis Baikonur in Kazachstan.

De raket droeg naast KazSat-3 ook de Russische Luch-5V-satelliet aan boord. De Luch-5V is een data-satelliet die tv-beelden vanuit het ISS naar de aarde stuurt.
De KazSat-3 is de derde satelliet die Kazachstan heeft gebouwd als onderdeel van een landelijk netwerk van ruimtetelecommunicatie.
